My Retro Journey Begins
Hello, fellow retro enthusiasts!
Welcome to the very first blog entry here at The Home of Thiaramus! I’m excited to kick off this journey with you as we explore the fascinating world of retro gaming and computing together.
My love for retro devices started when I was young, captivated by the vibrant colors and simple yet challenging gameplay of the NES and SNES. These consoles were my gateway into a world filled with endless adventures and unforgettable memories. As time went on, my interest in these classic systems grew, and I began to seek out other iconic consoles and devices to add to my collection.
The first piece of my collection was a well-loved NES, found at a local flea market. It was far from perfect, with a few scratches and a missing power brick, but it held a special charm that immediately drew me in. After some research and a bit of tinkering, I replaced the power brick with a modern one, and to my delight, it powered up perfectly. Playing those classic games on the NES again was a nostalgic rush that reaffirmed my love for these vintage machines.
Since then, my collection has expanded to include a variety of consoles, each with its own unique history and charm. From the groundbreaking 3D adventures on the N64 to the innovative online capabilities of the Xbox OG, each system offers a glimpse into the evolution of gaming.
One of my prized possessions is the Trinitron Wega 27″ CRT TV. While it serves its purpose well, I’ve never been a big fan of flat-screen CRTs. I would love to replace it with an older model if I’m able to find one. There’s something incredibly satisfying about playing these classic games on an older CRT, just as they were meant to be experienced. The vibrant colors and smooth motion bring the games to life in a way that modern displays simply can’t replicate.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing my experiences, stories, and insights as I continue to grow my collection. Whether it’s tracking down a rare game, restoring a console to its former glory, or simply reminiscing about the games that defined my childhood, I hope to capture the joy and excitement that retro gaming brings.
Stay tuned for more updates, reviews, and tips on collecting and maintaining these wonderful devices. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s keep the spirit of classic gaming alive, one blog post at a time!
